The Craven is a pleasant white-washed Thwaites pub situated next to Stainforth Beck. Retaining a multi-roomed layout, there is a small tap room on the left as you enter, a wood-panelled lounge at the rear with video screens and a further snug with an interesting stained-glass window beyond the bar. The accommodation (six rooms) was refurbished in 2017/8. The Craven is also popular with walkers - it is close to Pen-y-Ghent, Catrigg Force, Stainforth Foss and Craven Lime Works, one of the largest industrial archeology sites in the Dales. On Saturday and Sunday the pub opens at 9am for breakfasts, which are served until 11.30am. Take-away ice cream, pizza and fish and chips available.
Note: Direct access to the camping/caravan site at Knight Stainforth Hall over the vary narrow arched bridge is on foot, by bicycle or in a small car only, larger vehicles especially camper vans and caravans must go via Settle.
