Popular village pub now locally owned and run. Parts of this Grade II listed building date from the 15th century. Inside it combines traditional wooden beams with a light open appearance. The decorations, including a huge model of the Cutty Sark, are of nautical or local interest. There are six real ales with 4 of them being locally sourced guest ales. There is an extensive menu making use of local ingredients when available. Tuesday is ‘Chip Shop at The Ship’ evening and Thursday is steak night. Occasional live music.

Historic Interest

Originally a thatched house, containing part of a 14th century cruck, some 16th century framing and 18th century brickwork. With mid-19th century alterations it opened as a public house in 1866.
