A multi-roomed traditional pub of Irish character, old fashioned & family owned since 1985. Rugby & Irish Sports are shown on large screen TVs. Features an extensive covered patio garden and smoking area with heaters, large real fireplace, barbeque, projection screen and eclectic adornments. Hand pulls are split over the two bar areas, so make sure you move around to see the full range.

Traditional Irish music nights on alternate Mondays, Jazz nights on Tuesdays. Home of Na Madrai Golf Society and the Digbeth O'lympics.

Can be busy when Birmingham City play at home. Holden's cask mild available at only £2.50 a pint.

One star - A pub interior of special national historic interest

Listed status: Not listed

A small 1930s corner pub which retains three rooms though the two at the front are now connected by a wide opening rather than a door. The left hand of these bars is fairly plain with simple multi-shelved bar back, original counter, bench seating and Art Deco fireplace. The next bar has a minimalist bar back and original counter, a dado and two benches - the dog window is a recent replacement for a corner door. The third room, at a right angle, has similar bar back and counter, half-height panelling and bench seating. Modest but charming.

General information about historic pub interiors

A small 1930s corner pub with Georgian-style upper-floor windows; good leaded ones on the ground floor. Three rooms in an L-shape, the front two being connected by a modern opening and curtain between. The counter and bar-back run round the corner, and are original. The left-hand portion is rather Spartan with simple multi-shelved bar back and original counter with deep top and new pot shelf above. Bench seating on two sides and an Art Deco fireplace with good tiling. The middle bar has a minimalist bar back and original counter, a dado and two benches, with a modern settee between. The dog window was installed by the current licensee and replaced a corner door. The best room is rear-right, with bench seating, half-height panelling and the same style of counter and bar back as the middle. Most doors are original with leaded glass. In the Gents is an intact set of three urinals with ‘F J Co’ logos.
