A solid institution in Worcester. Known for serving the best pint of Guinness in Worcestershire, but also splendid Real Ales. The pub is a popular community local which has always been associated with niche activities such as backgammon, poetry reading & folk music. At the front is a no frills saloon which caters for all tastes but can get rather noisy. It has a cosy lounge bar offering a bar menu. Upstairs is the “SUGO” Italian restaurant, serving proper Italian food freshly prepared by an Italian chef. The "World" conker championship is held in early October. There is a loyalty card scheme for regular visitors.

Has an unusual layout of a corridor down the left hand side, with unused hatch to the server,and two (was three) rooms on the right. Until 2008 this was unchanged since the 1960s. The lounge at the front retains its ply panelling, small hatch/counter with Formica top, seating, brick fireplace and lino floor, all dating from the 1960s. The bar at the rear was on two levels with a partition splitting it into two. In 2008 the partition was removed, the floor levelled and new bar counter and bar back installed. Now not sufficient old fittings for R I.
